I had a mixed experience at this hotel. On the one hand, the location was perfect for enjoying Jozankei Onsen, and the food was absolutely amazing. However, the service left much to be desired, and the room temperature was quite uncomfortable due to the geothermal heat. Overall, the value for money was decent, especially with the included meals.

Rooms
6.0
The room was a unique blend of Western and Japanese styles, though it felt a bit cramped for three people. The temperature was a significant issue since the room was quite hot, which made for an uncomfortable stay.
Service

While some staff were helpful and reminded us about the bus schedule, the initial experience at check-in was quite disappointing as we faced rudeness from a couple of older staff members.
Location
8.0
The hotel had a great location within walking distance of everything in Jozankei. It was also a good base for exploring nearby areas, but the immediate surroundings weren't very stimulating aside from the hot springs.
Dining
9.0
Dining was a highlight with outstanding Japanese seafood dinners served in a traditional style, although there were no substitutes for those with dietary restrictions. The breakfast options were equally impressive.
Facilities

The facilities included great amenities like the onsen, but I was disappointed with the heating issues in the room.

The hotel has a fantastic location right at the entrance of Jozankei Onsen, offering unlimited access to the onsen and high-quality dining experiences. However, the room temperature was uncomfortable due to the hotel's geothermal setting, and the service at the front desk lacked warmth towards international guests. Overall, it provides good value for money given the food and amenities but with notable issues.

I had a wonderful stay at this luxurious hotel right at the entrance of Jozankei Onsen. The food was absolutely amazing, with a beautiful Kaiseki dinner and full Japanese breakfast included. However, I did have some trouble with the room temperature, especially since I was on a lower floor. While the location is convenient, the service could use a bit of improvement, as I encountered some rudeness during check-in which left a sour note.

I had a fantastic stay at a historic luxury hotel in Jozankei Onsen, which is perfectly located near all the hot springs. The food was absolutely amazing, especially the kaiseki dinner, and the staff, while limited in English, did their best to help. However, the room temperature was quite uncomfortable due to the hotel’s unique location over geothermal springs, making it harder to cool down. Overall, for the price, the food and experience were well worth it.
